Academic Enrichment
The Benninghoven PTA provides multiple academic enrichment opportunities throughout the school year.

Field Trips
The PTA funds admission and transportation for two educational field trips per grade level each year. Field Trips provide experiential, hands-on learning that brings textbook concepts to life. By stepping outside the classroom, students gain real-world context, improved knowledge retention, and enhanced social-emotional skills

Citizenship Writing Contest
The Citizenship Writing Contest supports, and encourage our students in 5th and 6th grade to write an essay or poem on the selected theme for the year. This theme changes every year and encourages students to think about Citizenship in a broad sense. It provides another opportunity for recognition and development of their writing skills.

Science Enrichment
The PTA funds and provides two hands-on science enrichment experiences each year for students in grades 2–6. Activities include volcano experiments (2nd grade), owl pellet dissections (3rd grade), frog dissections (4th grade), states of matter investigations (5th grade), and acids and bases experiments (6th grade).

Reflections Art Contest
The Reflections Art Program encourages students to explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning. It provides an opportunity for recognition and access to the arts which boosts student confidence and success in the arts and in life.

Summer Reading and Math Program and Celebration
The PTA sponsors a summer learning program that encourages students to continue practicing the math and reading skills they learned during the school year, helping prevent the "summer slide" and maintain academic progress. Students that complete the program get to participate in a celebration during the fall.

Kansas Day Celebration
Kansas Day is celebrated annually on January 29 to commemorate the anniversary of the state's 1861 admission to the Union. The PTA supports Kansas Day activities for 4th-grade students by engaging students in hands-on learning about the state's history, geography, culture, and heritage.
